It has come to the attention of the City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) that a hoax message is making rounds informing job seekers the position they have applied for has become available and the applicant meets the criteria.
This is a scam.
The same text message is also sent to people who have not applied for any post at CoE and therefore residents are urged not to reply to the SMS.
The CoE’s recruitment system sends an email correspondence to the candidates’ email addresses specified during registration, notifying them of the status of their applications.
In some instances, correspondence can be through a call.
Furthermore, applications for jobs at CoE do not require any payment to be made.
Should one be required to make a payment in relation to CoE’s recruitment, residents are urged to report it to the CoE anonymous Anti-Fraud Hotline on 0800 102 201 or send an email to [email protected]
