One Tembisa school will bag prize money of R50 000 if its soccer team wins a tournament to be hosted by KTVR Bus Service at Mehlareng Stadium on October 19.
The four participating schools are Tembisa Secondary School, Phomolong Secondary School, Tembisa-West Secondary School and Zitikeni Secondary School.
KTVR Bus Service is a private company established by the Ekurhuleni Taxi Industry to operate the Ekurhuleni Harambee Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) System.
“We are currently operating a starter service between Tembisa and Isando and through our board of directors it was decided that our corporate social investment (CSI) programme should focus in Tembisa as it is where we are currently operating,” said Tebogo Modise, spokesperson for KTVR.
Two semi-finals will be played as well as a final.
The criteria used to identify these schools were that they should be located along the current route of the Harambee BRT starter service in Tembisa.
The winning school will also receive a trophy and medals, while the runner-up will get medals. Each participating team will receive a soccer kit.
Transport will be provided to all the participating schools using the Harambee BRT buses. Pick-up points have been identified as Harambee BRT Station 7, next to Rabasotho Hall and Station 16, Phomolong.
The official launch and draw will take place at 8.30am, with the first semi-final to be played at 9am, followed by the second at 11am.
As a curtain raiser before the final a KTVR senior team will play against a school selection team at 1pm.
The final will start at 2.30pm with the prize-giving at 4.30pm.
KTVR Bus Service has partnered with Tembisa Schools Football Association to make this tournament a success.
