Tembisa SAPS arrested four suspects between the ages of 17 to 47 years old for the murder they allegedly committed in different areas around Tembisa on September 2.
According to the Tembisa SAPS communications officer, Captain Manyadza Ralidzivha, a father and his two children were arrested for the murder that occurred at Winnie Mandela Zone 9 on September 1 at about 1:30 am.
“It is alleged that a 33-year-old man from Duduza was with his relatives from a tavern. They had a fight with people from that vicinity. The 33-year-old man was found lying in the street in a pool of blood. He was stabbed with a sharp object on the upper body. The paramedics were called to the scene and certified him dead,” said Ralidzivha. Ralidzivha explained that a preliminary investigation by Detectives led to the arrest of the father and his two sons.
“It seems the deceased had been stabbed in their yard and dragged into the street where he was found lying,” he added.
Ralidzivha further said at Block 25 Sethokga Hostel, a 21-year-old man was also stabbed to death.
“According to a witness who was drinking with the deceased, he decided to go home. But he waited for his friend (deceased) to finish drinking. All of a sudden he saw the 21-year-old man argument with two guys. He heard him screaming as he was a little bit away from them, smoking. When he approached them, he found his friend on the ground in a pool of blood. Both suspects were brandishing sharp objects,” explained Ralidzivha.
He said when the police arrived on the scene, one of the suspects, a 22-year-old, was arrested for the murder.
“We are appealing to community members to help us with information that will lead to the arrest of the suspects who committed a murder at Temong Section. The allegations are that it was at about 2 am on September 1 at a tavern when a man from Kaalfontein, Midrand, was trying to separate two people who were fighting. During the process, one of the fighters took out a firearm and shot the deceased in the upper body. He was rushed to Tembisa Hospital where he was certified dead on arrival. The suspect is claimed to be unknown as most of the people were drunk,” added Ralidzivha.
From a separate incident, an unknown man was fatally shot at Winnie Mandela Zone 1 on September 2 at about 7 am.
Ralidzivha said the deceased was shot several times after he opened his door for the four men who had come to his business.
“The suspects ran away without taking anything from the shop,” said Ralidzivha.
The arrested suspects are expected to appear in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court on the charges of murder.
