Another stop-and-search operation in fight against crime in Tembisa

Operation Sisonke made inroads in fighting crime.

Members of Ekurhuleni North SAPS, EMPD, MEC Road Traffic Police, Gauteng Traffic, Prasa and Ekurhuleni North CPF joined hands to fight crime.

Tembisa South SAPS communications officer Captain Neldah Sekgobela said the stakeholders came together under Operation Sisonke to conduct a stop-and-search operation to apprehend suspicious people who are targeting and robbing members of the community who are going to their workplaces in the morning.

“After the stop-and-searches, they visited Oakamoor train station, R562 and Republic Road next Ivory Park to conduct roadblocks. One suspect was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm at Oakamoor train station and two suspects for possession of dagga. Three hundred vehicles and 384 people were searched,” said Sekgobela.

She said the members also issued 43 traffic tickets for those who contravened the National Road Traffic Act.
