In a response to residents’ complaints about billing, the City of Ekurhuleni has said it will reach out to the Phomolong community in Tembisa by making debt payment arrangements and by resolving billing-related queries during the monthly Finance Open Day.
It will be held at the pay-point of the Phomolong’s finance department for two days, on April 20 from 9 am until 3 pm, and on April 21 at 9 am till 12 noon.
The community members from the area and surrounds will get an opportunity to interact with officials from various service departments and get their service matters addressed.
The Finance Open Day is not only aimed at getting service queries addressed, but it is also to bring the city to the people.
Some of the day-to-day challenges that are resolved during the Open Days relate to finance, electricity, water and housing issues.
Previously some of the queries residents raised were attributable to unidentified household leaks which resulted in high water bills. Debts accumulated because some residents who qualify for indigent assistance, were not being registered on the relevant database and therefore were not getting the indigent benefits.
