MK veteran launches book in Olifantsfontein

ANC MK veteran Teboho Molotsi will launch his book, The Unfinished Revolution, on April 14.

The 68-year-old ex-political freedom fighter said the book reveals the tribulations faced by activists who, during the country’s political turmoil, skipped the borders to serve in Umkhonto Wesizwe.

He said in the ’80s he was an underground activist for the African National Congress and he was recruited while serving as a police detective.

“In 1980, a few months after resigning as an SAP detective, I was arrested by the apartheid security branch.

“I was convicted and sentenced to five years imprisonment in Robben Island.

“In 1982 I was released on appeal and placed under house arrest.

“Because of the strict conditions of my movement and the inability to work for my family, I decided to skip the country and went into exile to join Umkhonto Wesizwe,” said Molotsi.

He said in the ANC camp in exile he experienced stigma due to his past biography stating that he was a former cop.

“Like many others, I was stigmatised as an enemy agent.

The Unfinished Revolution by Teboho Molotsi.

“This book is about experiences and events in the camp mostly relating to hard conditions under which ANC cadres lived and the isolation of those who dare to raise their voices against leadership,” said Molotsi.

He added that the book looks into why the arms struggle was not raised to the nation’s expectations as expected to correlate with the upheavals that were happening in the country.

“Through this book, the reader will understand the political challenges faced by ANC members in exile.

Secondly, they will learn about the incarceration of innocent ANC cadres,” said Molotsi.

The Unfinished Revolution will be launched at the Olifantsfontein community hall and Molotsi invites all MK veterans, historians, current and old political activists.

He said patrons will be addressed by himself as the author and the audience will engage with stakeholders.
