Woman gets her first RDP house for which she has been desperately waiting for 15 years.

Ekurhuleni’s DA shadow MMC for Human Settlements Clr Mabekenyane Thamahane said the Democratic Alliance in Ekurhuleni has managed to pressure the Department of Human Settlements to deliver on its promise to build an RDP house for a distressed resident in Winnie Mandela Zone 11 in Tembisa.

“Princess Mapempeni (61) finally received her new RDP house after living in a shack for most of her life. A desperate Princess approached me and the DA shadow MMC for Human Settlements, Clr Mabekenyane Thamahane for help. This prompted our engagement with the department to ensure that she received her new RDP house,” said Clr Khathutshelo Rasilingwane.

She said although the new house is not 100 per cent complete, Mapempeni is understandably overwhelmed by her new residence. “The DA will continue to represent the poorest of the poor in Ekurhuleni and continue to fight for the rights of our citizens in ensuring that they get access to the services they deserve.”
