Thapelo Mei is wanted for murder – do you know where he is?

Murder suspect Thapelo Mei is wanted by the police.

Tembisa SAPS is seeking the help of the public with tracing wanted murder suspect Thapelo Mei (32).

According to Tembisa SAPS communication officer Capt Manyadza Ralidzivha, Mei is wanted in connection with a murder committed in October 2013 at Luvuyo Street, Kanana Extension Five.

“The suspect and the deceased were at the yard where Mei stays,” said Ralidzivha. “An argument ensued between them. The suspect allegedly stabbed the deceased with a sharp object and died. Mei was arrested the same day and charged with murder.

“He appeared before Tembisa Magistrate’s Court and was given bail. When the case was about to be finalised, Mei did not come to court since June 2013.”

Ralidzivha added the police had searched for Mei but had not been able to locate him.

“It is the duty of the public to help the police to identify and arrest criminals,” he said. “We are making this plea to the community because these sorts of crimes originate from within the community. So you will find that someone knows something.”

For any information that could help with tracing Mei, the public can contact Tembisa SAPS detective W/O Malesela Rapetsoa on 071 608 8758, phone crime stop on 08600 10111 or SMS information to 32211.
