Man found murdered in Ivory Park Extension

Ivory Park SAPS found the body of a murdered man lying in the road in Ivory Park Extension in the early hours of Saturday.

They are appealing to the community for help with identifying the body.

According to Ivory Park SAPS communications officer Capt Bernard Matimulane, police on routine patrol came across the body lying in a pool of blood.

“Not aware that the man had already died, the police quickly organised paramedics to come and attend to the man. It was the paramedics who, upon their arrival, certified that the man was dead.

“The deceased, estimated to be in his late 20s or early 30s, had five stab wounds, three under the left arm, one under the left ear and another one next to the spine. He was wearing a white T-shirt and white takkies and there were pieces of beer bottles and bricks next to the body,” said Matimulane.

Matimulane added that the killers might have fled the scene when they saw a vehicle coming their way.

Ivory Park SAPS station head Brig David Mbongeni Ngcobo is appealing for any piece of information from the nearby community members.

“Chances are the deceased may have screamed, judging by the injuries inflicted upon him. And we, as the SAPS, believe that the screams may have alerted people nearby of what was going on, thus leading to someone seeing something,” said Ngcobo.

Anyone with information can contact the Ivory Park police on 011 990 9600 or 08600 10111.
