Two men armed with pistols assailed a house in Difateng Section in Tembisa, robbed the family of valuables and then demanded the car keys last Sunday at 7.30pm.

They then made off with the family’s Kia Picanto.

Supt Wilfred Kgasago, spokesman for Ekurhuleni Metro Police, said all the occupants of the house were ordered to lie on the floor before they were robbed of personal belongings, which included cash and cellphones.

“The family’s silver Kia Picanto was used as a getaway car by the suspects. The family came out of the ordeal unscathed as no shots were fired,” he added.

Fortunately, around 7am the next morning, officers picked up the signal of the robbed vehicle and located it along Mbongolo Crescent in Ecaleni Section at 7.30am. The vehicle was found abandoned. No arrests were made as the suspects had disappeared. The recovered Kia Picanto was taken to the SAPS pound in Benoni for processing and safe-keeping.
