Ivory Park police need assistance to solve murder

The Ivory Park SAPS is calling on members of the public with information regarding the fatal shooting of a man at Ivory Park’s Extension Three, in the early hours of Tuesday, August 1, to come forward.

The incident happened not far from the popular Ma Africa Tavern.

According to the Ivory Park SAPS Communication Officer, Captain Bernard Matimulane, police on patrol were called to a murder scene in the early hours of Tuesday last week, after a man was seen lying on the street, with no signs of life.

“Upon their arrival the police made some probes and they discovered that the man had a gunshot wound just below the armpit. Attempts by the police to solicit any information that may be of assistance during investigation went nowhere as all of the bystanders and neighbours denied any knowledge of what had happened. No cartridge was found at the scene, but the police’s investigation into the man’s death continues,” said Captain Matimulane.

“We call upon anyone with information regarding this matter, or any other crime, to talk to us. We are more than willing to talk on a confidential basis – anonymity is guaranteed for those who do not want to be known,” said by the Ivory Park SAPS Station Commander, Brigadier David Mbongeni Ngcobo.

The 23-year old deceased was identified by his mother who lives near Ivory Park.
