Four arrested for robbery and conspiracy to commit crime

The Ivory Park SAPS detectives managed – following a house robbery that took place in April at Ivory Park, Extension 13 – to arrest four men suspected of the crime on May 5.

Ivory Park SAPS communication officer Captain Bernard Matimulane said the hunt for two more suspects alleged to be involved is ongoing.

“The four suspects, whose ages range from 18 to 25, were picked up at different addresses in Ivory Park. The suspects were apparently tipped off about a stash of cash in a local businessman’s home. On the night of the robbery the suspects, one of whom had a firearm, went to the wrong room. Upon learning that the person whose room was broken into was not their intended target, the suspects went on to demand money,” said Matimulane.

Matimulane said after taking money, clothes, a cellphone and laptop, the suspects went into the next room where they also, at gunpoint, took money and a plasma TV.

“The four will appear in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court to face charges of house robbery and conspiracy to commit crime,” said Matimulane.

The station commander of the Ivory Park SAPS, Brigadier David Mbongeni Ngcobo, has welcomed this arrest.

He warned people about the dangers of keeping large amounts of money at home.
