Ekurhuleni hosts open day in Phomolong

Tembisans interact with representatives from the various Ekurhuleni Metro departments.

Ekurhuleni hosted a service delivery open day for Phomolong residents recently.

Customer relations manager Xolisile Tshabalala said the City of Ekurhuleni’s Customer Relations Management Department decided to bring services to the community of Phomolong.

“As a city we are guided by the Batho Pele principle and that is why we are here today. Our vision is to say we are a creative, smart and developmental city,” said Tshabalala.

She said Phomolong residents were excited about the event because different departments were there.

“We had SASSA, Home Affairs, SARS, legislature and other departments here. The other services that were offered there on site were the testing of people for different ailments because residents don’t have time to go to clinics,” said Tshabalala.

Tshabalala said the various departments were able to provide residents with feedback.

“Sometimes the information we have as departments does not go to our customers but today, through this open day, everybody knows what the different departments are doing,” said Tshabalala.

“We want to close the gap between government and our customers by reaching out to our people.”
